1. Sunscreen
Undoubtedly, sunscreen has to top the list of best beauty products for summer. The sun is constantly emitting very harmful rays, even on cloudy days mind you. And sun damage is almost irreversible. So it is absolutely essential that you invest in a good quality sunscreen with a high SPF and apply it regularly throughout the day. That’s right, you can’t just apply it once in the morning and forget about it. Carry it with you and re-apply every couple of hours. 2. Lip balm
Lip balm with SPF. Since lipstick is a no-no during the hot months, you can use lip balm to add a little sparkle to your lips. But remember that your lips can burn in the sun too so ensure that your balm has SPF.
3. Nail Colors
Vibrant nail colors are absolutely in. Summer is generally associated with a very casual and fun look overall. So you can go crazy and try out some really funky colors that you would not dare to the rest of the year.
4. Hydrating Hair Spray
Hair tends to get frizzier in the heat. While that looks really cool, it can sometimes get really out of control. And FYI, the sun can damage your hair too. You could just wear a hat all day (yawn!). But I prefer to use a protective, hydrating spray to tame my wild hair.
5. Blotters
It’s almost summer time, and you know what that means, especially if you’ve had oily skin your whole life (at least after puberty, like I have). It means that your skin will shine like the dickens by midday if you don’t have something handy to blot out the shine and mop up that excess sebum production that shows itself in the form of a shine-arific face.
6. Exfoliant
Exfoliant is the next thing on my list which I find absolutely essential to a summer beauty regime. Since we’re wearing fewer clothes, we’re showing more skin. And if the skin on your body is patchy, coarse and dull, you’re definitely not going to be looking your best. Ensure that you exfoliate your whole body regularly so that you can feel confident and beautiful in your tiniest shorts and your skimpiest tank top.
7. Aloe Vera
No matter what precautions I take I usually end up getting a little sun burned. I use natural aloe vera gel to cool my burning skin. The healing properties of aloe vera make it a must-have product for the summer.
8. Tinted Moisturizer
Although it’s hot, your skin still needs moisturizer. But since regular moisturizer is too heavy at this time, opt for tinted moisturizer which hydrates your skin and leaves you feeling light and fresh.
9. Self Tanner
Nothing like a hot tan in the summer. But the drawback is the harmful rays of the sun damaging your skin. To avoid the damage but still get a tanned look, use a self-tanner. Just slather on to skin and you will get a natural bronze within days without having to spend long hours burning yourself in the sun.
10. Perfume
Finally, we have perfume. You have to smell as good as you look. And the sensuous fragrances from your winter stash will not do. Go for fruity, flowery, fun fragrances that capture the very essence of summer.
